WE (Working Equitation) ONLINE is a concept that the Managing Director has developed since early in 2019.

History:

It started while the MD held the position of General Manager of the South African National Working Equitation organisation and he was directly involved with the standardization of judging across South Africa, for which he compiled the one-day Courses and presented them in both South African Provinces of Gauteng and KZN.

​Because South Africa has a very poor exchange rate, the expense to bring judges from overseas countries was prohibitive, and with the need to get Judges officially trained up to international standards, a "Judges Video Assessment" program was started.

 

Current Opportunity:

With the ever-increasing potential for the Covid-19 lockdowns to further impact the lives of people, especially horsemen & women, and as a spin-off, the very WELLBEING of our horse partners, gatherings at formal Show Grounds for Training Events, Clinics and Workshops, as well as Competition Events, are becoming less and less possible.

As a result, the assessment of progress in the horse/rider partnership's personal training program has virtually come to a standstill.

To overcome this, TECHNOLOGY can now play an important role in furthering the training program of the horse/rider partnership.

 

How does Technology Help Us?

Nearly everyone owns a smartphone or tablet that can take videos, and most have a zoom function.

And most of us have a space to ride in, which is at least 20m X 40m square (I mean the corners are square, and the rectangle should then also be "squared")....

So, all that's left for a rider/handler to be able to shoot videos that show the various Working Equitation Trials of themselves, is another person who can take the video with the smartphone, or tablet (or, obviously, a video camera if you have one). Those that can get one, can even use video cameras that automatically track the movement of the horse and rider/handler.....

The video can then sent to the WERC HQ, where an Assessor (Judge) can score/assess the videoed tests in the various WE Trials.

In this way, "Online" Training Events, as well as "Online" Competition Events, are possible.....

Costs would also be a lot less, because a lot of expenses that you pay in your entry fees (e.g. Ground Levies) and your travelling expenses to the Event Venues would be saved.

 

And with computer facilities linking people via video cam, technology can also help with Private Coaching - WERC has "borrowed" this concept from another organisation, and is evolving it to suit the way WERC wants it to perform.
